Melbourne, Australia is often referred to as the sporting capital of Australia – and with good reason. Apart from the numerous sporting events held here, Melbourne shopping is famous too, as are its historic sites and entertainment.

While travelling in Australia, Melbourne is one city you should try to spend a great deal of time in. There are so many Melbourne attractions to visit, such as the Melbourne Aquarium, Melbourne Zoo, the famous MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) and St Kilda’s Luna Park.

Then there are all the Melbourne museums, Melbourne Gaol, spectacular gardens and churches. Crown Casino, in the heart of the city, has to be seen to be believed.

Certainly a highlight of Melbourne travel is a ride on the trams – the only remaining tram system in Australia still operating. Travel around the CBD on a free City Highlights tram and you will go past cosmopolitan Lygon Street where you can find some of the best Melbourne restaurants.
